The Gender Policy in Energy Review
09 Jul 2026 | 02:00 PM | INFORMATION
In 2019, Kenya became the first country in Africa to adopt a dedicated Gender Policy in Energy (GEP), recognising that women and men experience energy access differently and that a more inclusive energy sector is essential for sustainable development.
Six years later, it is time to assess progress, identify gaps and chart a stronger pathway for gender transformation across the sector.
To contribute to this process, Practical Action in Kenya, with support from ENERGIA - International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy, commissioned a review to gauge implementation, identify emerging issues and lay the foundation for updating the policy.
Join the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Practical Action and partners to discuss the findings of the GEP review and priority actions for strengthening gender-responsive energy planning and practice in Kenya.
